Slightly different name, same great products. At the end of April, Microsoft’s CVP Jared Spataro announced a rebrand to the Office 365 product suite, pivoting more of the lineup to sit under the Microsoft 365 brand.

The key driver for change being to simplify the offerings as more organisations look to move beyond the traditional Office 365 scope to a unified Microsoft 365 platform, incorporating Windows 10 and secure mobility solutions.

Functionally, the products are still the same, you don’t lose out on features or net anything new nor are there any price changes associated. As a subscriber, there is nothing you need to do beyond being aware that you might see the new names appearing in various locations.

The biggest change to branding is within the business space, aimed at organisations under 300 employees with a completely new naming scheme.

The enterprise plans remain relatively unchanged though there is a new F1 SKU, almost identical to the ‘new’ F3 SKU though with slight changes to edit rights with Office Online. More information regarding these plans can be found in the attached comparison spreadsheet. Office 365 Enterprise E1, E3 and E5 SKU’s remain untouched as do their Microsoft 365 counterparts.

This simplification comes at a great time as other key features such as Azure Active Directory Premium and Microsoft 365 Business Voice (US only for now) are announced, enabling small and medium business to leverage some amazing features that were traditionally restricted to enterprise customers only.
